The exhibition from Spring 2026, Contemporary Tokyo presents an art exhibition
at Park Hotel Tokyo.
Shiodome, Tokyo — approximately 100 meters above the ground.
The “spring” perceived here is no longer simply a natural phenomenon, but something
closer to a precisely designed and synthesized simulation of the five senses. In the iron
jungle spread out below Park Hotel Tokyo, the scent of soil is blocked by the filters of the
air-conditioning system. In its place, a “simulated spring” fills the space, woven from
neon afterimages, electronic signals, and the flowing currents of consumerism.
This exhibition is a special project by Contemporary Tokyo. Centering the sculptural
works of Hiroaki Sato as anchors within the space, it is an attempt — together with five
artists active on the front lines of Tokyoʼs art scene — to build a temporary sampling
station inside this “vertical city.”
Our aim is not to recreate nature.
Rather, it is to record, dismantle, and reconstruct “fragments of spring” that are unique
to people living in the contemporary metropolis.
The spatial composition is structured around the binary of “matter” and “illusion.”
Satoʼs sculptures define a laboratory-like tone, while the two-dimensional works by the
other artists fluctuate around these anchors like a shifting spectrum, capturing the noise
of fleeting emotions hidden within the city.
